Tiny 40 at The Gardens

This home speaks to the essence of the tiny lifestyle, which is about making the most of the simple things in life.

Mainland Australia residents, Adam and Anna, have been making the almost-monthly journey to Tasmania for years. They regularly venture to their stunning East Coast home (just 10 minutes from the Bay of Fires) to soak up its simplicity and unrefined beauty.

The pair came to us wanting a Tiny 40 to add to their property in The Gardens - not only to provide additional accommodation for friends when needed, but also as a source of additional income. The site, positioned in a prime spot to take in the incredible ocean views and stunning natural landscape, was also nicely removed from the main house, and therefore provided privacy and a sense of seclusion.

The Tiny 40 now operates as an Airbnb, and, fortunately for visitors, Anna and Adam are happy to share the serenity that their tiny piece of paradise provides!

The double bed in this tiny home faces straight out to an incredible vista of the coastline – the window takes up most of the end wall of the container, offering a sense of openness and makes the most of the unmatched surroundings.

The spaciousness of the interior is enhanced with a half-wall that separates the bed from the rest of the room without blocking the incoming light (and unbelievable view) pouring through the window.

Despite the fairly uninterrupted land around the container, the tiny home is private – it's been positioned in such a way that it can maximise the view while also providing enough privacy from the nearby main road (albeit a pretty quiet road)!

The container is obviously exposed to the elements here, particularly the erosive maritime air. The windows and their frames have been designed with this in mind so that Adam and Anna won't need to worry about costly maintenance down the track.
